Brawl On The Bund
Watched White Collar Boxing for the first time ever here in Shanghai. Not a big fan of the sport itself but curiosity kill my detestation. White Collar Boxing is a form of boxing where men and women in white collar professions train to fight at special events. Most have no previous experience of boxing.
Brawl on the Bund is a charity white collar boxing event which become one of the most popular events and highlights on the Shanghai social calendar. This year (their 6th event so far) the organizer choose The Kerry Hotel Pudong as the venue. The focus of the evening is to raise money for Leo’s Foundation, a charity set up to support a division of Fudan University Children’s Hospital that cares for prematurely born infants with respiratory failure. There were approximately 1,000 people at the Kerry Hotel Pudong attending the event last night, all clad in Tuxedo and evening gowns. The atmosphere was very different than any other social events that I have been to. I can feel lots of excitement in the air especially when the contender enter the boxing ring. The announcer introduce them while they walk the runway which burst with dry smoke, loud funky music as background and all their supporter yells their name with loud applause, one must be there to experience it!
Now I can tick my “been there done that list”, how about you, have you ever been to a boxing match before?
